absolute best strat pickup set for blues

hey guys some of you might know that im selling my dear old les paul, ive decided that the strat really is my thing right now. so im gonna buy a strat purely for how great it feels and how resonant it is unplugged. i dont care if its a squier. well yeah, i do. im gonna make sure the components are pretty good. i dont want to gut the entire thing. but then im going to replace all the pickups to get a stevie ray/texas blues sound. what pickups are best? im sure duncan makes a great set. i was thinking about the antiquity texas hots with custom bridge surfer. but waht about van zandts? fralins? lollars? i was looking at the van zandt blues pus and the fralin blues specials and they are definitely candidates... they both end up being cheaper than the antiquity duncans once put in a set of 3 too.. so anyways opionions?

Other -- Suhr V60LPs.

I voted quot;otherquot; because IMHO you can't go wrong with one of the Fender pickups. Also, I have one that has Lace Hot Golds - those are really nice, too.

If you want to get the SRV tone, the Antiquity Surfer set is what you should get. If you're on a smaller budget, the Duncan SSL-1's do SRV in spades.

If you want all that a strat can do, be noiseless, and have a bunch of cool tricks up your sleeve, check out the EMG DG-20 set. I love mine.

This little company called FENDER has been making quot;BLUES' pickups since the 50s and they are on almost EVERY ALBUM EVER MADE! So I think that kinda proves the case in point!

My fave modern pickup has to be the Dimarzio VVs

See my sig! Covers all of those screaming blues bases. Haven't had any much experience with the others apart from stock pups.

There is no best and Lindy, Seymour and Van Zandt all make great sets of pickups for the Strat and I have had sets by all of those makers in my Strats.

Personally, I like Seymour's Antiquity II Surfers and Lindy's Vintage Hots and Van Zandt's True Vintage sets the very best.

I have Antiquitys in most of my Strats...but one of my best sounding Strats has Lindy's Vintage Hot set in it.

I have a great set of Van Zandt True Vintage pickups too that were wound by Mr Van Zandt around 1990...they are very vintage accurate in tone but I'm out of Strats so they're in the box and not currently in a guitar.

Fender Fat 50's -- with a little extra help from me in the form of ham-fisted additions of extra turns on the bridge and neck.

To paraphrase Lew......the only quot;best is whats best for you. You really could not go wrong with any of theset you listed or any of the recommendations. Fralins amp; Van Zandts are great pickups as are Duncans. You can throw Lollars into the mix and for SRV blues tone, Dave Stephens Texas Twisters are hard to beat.
