Who's your #1? And give us a background story!
Mine's my black USA Jackson SL2H (TB-4b, SH-1n). Got her as a gift to myself this Christmas. Total beauty. Been after her for years.
My built Alder bodied Saphire blue Highway 1 body with an 80's 12quot; radius American STD maple neck....Surfer neck and Middle and Texas Hot bridge...Fralin Blender pot,Vintage Fender bridge...After that it's my (avatar)red American Deluxe strat with all Texas Hots..
John
my stock peavey raptor
(hoping to make it into a h-s-h within the next 5 years)
mines the am dlx w/ surfers in all positions.
my #2 is a bunch of spare e, b, and g strings.
Mine changes from week to week, but for now it's my MIM Strat w/ Deluxe 70's neck.
Mine would have to be my C5/QP/QP Genny. And I know that sounds strange since I just started a thread a couple weeks ago complaining about some quot;issuesquot; with its quot;cheapnessquot;. The thing is . . . the dang thing sounds so good.
I'm not so sure I'm going to change it now, 'cause I don't want to risk messing up this tone. With the tapped QP's, its perfect.
And . . . this was a tough choice, 'cause I also, just got my other two Peavey's dialed-in perfect. I doubt I'll be changing any of them any time soon.
Geez I have 2
#1 Gibson LP Special, 1990 TV Yellow, Duncan SP90-3 bridge SP-90-1 Neck, stock pots OD caps, Schaller pegs, Nashville replacement bridge, refretted Dunlpd med jumbo wire. This guitar has been through the ringer, thrown across stages, had to replace the 3 way toggle that snapped in my hands during a particularly heated fit of Mick Ronson envy, need to ditch the ABR-1 that was bent so far forward I couldn't properly intonate it. By far the sentimental favorite. (owned since new)
#1 2001 Gibson LP Standard Plus, cherry sunburst, a2pb/59n stock pots od caps, Grover. great playing and sounding guitar, a tank well built and beautiful, quiet as a mouse something the Special knows nothing of! Only thing replacing it would be a vintage or a nice R7 through R9 weighing in at 8.5 or so lbs. (purchased 2 or 3 years ago on ebay, major score!)The black Custom is now in butnut's possession.
Mine is a 1998 (I think) Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus. It is/was the first Gibson I ever bought/owned. I bought it off of Ebay in I believe 2001. When I bought it the 500T/496R set of pickups had been replaced by the previous owner with a set of 498T/490R pickups. I replaced them within about 2-3 days with a Jazz/Jazz combo. I usually call the guitar Amber, because of it's color. A friend of mine renamed it Excaliber...lol.
epiphone 7 string les paul
finish sanded down to the sealer on the back of the neck and body
dimarzio PAFs
new pots and switch
push pull pots for coil splits and phase
micarta nut
Mine's a Schecter C-1 Plus. Been through a few pickup changes; JB/'59 to DD/DD back to the stock Duncan Designed DD/DD for a while, and soon to have a JB/Jazz to (hopefully) finish off pickup changes.
I have a new favoritye every week or so, but there are 2 I always come back to...
My Yamaha SG2000...it just sounds killer, it has a great neck and with in the past year I have had to completly re do the electronics...new switch, new pots, new caps, new knobs and new pickups (CC/A2Pro). It's neck through, and has a great neck on it and no matter what else I play and no matter how long I play it the Yamaha feels like home!
The other is my Highway One Telecaster...I got it new less that a year ago...I played several until I got a nice light one with a good feeling neck, bought it and as soon as I got it home I ripped it apart! She got a 50's string tree, Kluson tuners (A must have on a Fender guitar IMO), a 5 hole black guard plate, strap locks, an electrosocket (A must have on a Telecaster), and a new 5 way switch with a set of Custom Shop Duncans...now this guitar just has so much soul and mojo, even people that don't play guitar remark about it...

BTW...how is Butnut? Do you still talk to him?
I do stay in touch with butnut (Biran) regularly, he's been doing all right. Very into customizing mopeds recently. He is amazing, the guy can customize anything and look like he has been doing it forever..

Normally my number 1 would be my Dean EVO ... but a while back I took it in for a Fret Dress and a setup ... and the repair tech spent 3 months with the guitar and when I got it back, I found he butchered the frets and scratched the finish in a couple of places. The only offer I got was that they were willing to redo the work but not refund the money.
Since I wasn't trusting them with any fret jobs again. I've been waiting until I've had enough cash do get this fixed. The problem is the frets were levelled so low, it's looking like I'll need to do a refret  which is a lot more than what I want to pay. I later tried to get duncans and graphtech saddles installed from the same shop. They f***ed up the Duncan installation (I wanted Series *duh* and they installed it Parallel In-Phase) and it took them 9 weeks to order the Graphtechs (and then they raised the price over what they initially quoted me).So right now my Number one is a HSH Yamaha RGX. Full Shred Bridge, Stock Single, '59 Neck. Graphtech saddles. Schaller Strap Locks.Sorry for the rant ... I guess it was one of those quot;Fool me twice, shame on mequot; things. Karma's a b!tch though ... their store folded last year.
mine is a mij fender contemporary strat with a basswood body and 12quot; maple/rosewood neck that i bought in 86. she's also my first guitar. amazing action, neck profile and tone. even though its all beaten up after all this years, its still my numero uno because she's such a wonderful player. forgot to add, she comes with a jb and a jazz.
Mine is my Jackson SL-4 that i installed a OFR, Bill Lawrence XL-500 and L-500C and 5 way switching. Plus custom made polished aluminum parts from Fretsonthenet.com
(David Wescott, A.K.A budman)
My second is My 74 Ibanez Les paul copy (pre-Lawsuit) with full shred bridge and neck.
My '77 Kramer 450G. I bought it off some guy from Canada that I met in Toledo, Ohio. It really saved on shipping- this thing is HEAVY!! I just replaced the saddles, she plays like a dream now. It has flawless intonation, walnut with maple/walnut stripes, aluminum neck, DMZ Super Dist. in the bridge and '59n.
My only electric and the one i really love is my Fender American Stratocaster 3 tone sunburst maple neck and fretboard w/ 2 surfers neck and middle and a LF Steel Pole 43 in the bridge.
