Alder VS Ash.. what's the tonal difference?

Say what's the difference (in Tone) between those two?

thanks

The best answer that I can give you is that Alder is a warmer sounding wood, ie, it won't be quite as bright as Ash.

Ash has a very tight bottom end with and is very bright, and present, especially in the 'brilliance' end of the frequency spectrum ( 5kHz)

Alder is warmer, rounder bottom, and arguably a touch darker.

Alder bridge humbucker = great tone for heavy riffing!!

Doc Barlo did a side-by-side sound clip comparison of alder and ash a while back.. here's the link to the thread with sound clips: from : localhost//forum/showthread.php?t=33

Hopefully that'll answer some of your questions.
