I had one of these Paulas

I found a thread over at the LPF with pics of a fairly rare custom Les Paul.

Now the whole reason I WENT to the LPF in the first place months and months ago was to find out some info on this guitar I had back in the late 80s. This one is similar to mine. But mine was made a few years prior and had some different hardware. I'll Camp;P my post too. This is one of the few guitars I've ever had that I *REALLY* miss. It was a monster player/tone machine. It's basically a Custom/Standard Hybrid. Gold hardware, ebony board with traps, etc.

The whole reason I FOUND this forum was so I could ask a question about one of those!

I had one I bought used in the late 80s. Same everything except for the following differences

1) Pretty sure it had top hats, not speeds
2) The strap buttons were diamond shaped
3) Gold pup covers

weighed a TON...heaviest Paula I've ever experienced...sustained for days...

Aso mine said # X of Y on the back of the headstock....great guitar...wish I'd never sold it

EDIT: mine was def pre 1990...latest I could have bought it was 1989 and the guy who sold it to the shop had said he'd owned it a few years...

Anyone else ever seen one like mine? (with the dimaond shaped strap buttons and tophats?
