Looking for a different floyd equipped guitar.

So I got my Charvel traditional the other day and was very dissapointed. First, one of the strings was broken, it did not come with a trem bar, and the set-up was terrible. I bought it from AMS, who I have always had great luck with, and normally would of returned it for a new one, but it was their only one. I'm thinking that the guitar showed up in a warehouse somewhere, and was shipped to AMS for sale. I think this because that guitar has not been available for some time now. Anyway, I took it to my local shop for a set-up, and when I picked it up, the guy told me it has issues. The neck has a flip in it, and needs at least a grind and polish to fix it. I'm sure that I can get done under warrenty, but I do not think I am. I'm probably just going to send it back. I would still like another floyd guitar to mess around with. I saw those OLP MM1's on AMS. For what I paid for the Charvel, I could get an MM1, plus totally upgrade it with new pups, fret polish, setup, whatever. Has anyone played one or have any opinions on that, or even the Charvel for that matter?

quot; The Neck has a Flip in itquot;......Ehm, what exactly do you mean??? This term is new to me (Having a Flip?? I only know drinking or doing a flip )

All of the Charvel Pro series axes (Journeyman, Traditional, Standard, Model A...) were an unbelievable deal for the cash (although also al played after the discontinuation about this time last year)....

IMO it´s definitely a much better axe than anything OLP makes, period....better woods, materials AND workmanship across the board.......

And if you bought the guitar new, it´s covered by warranty. Period.

A flip means that the neck has a natural bend upwards toward the body. So when it's bolted in, the neck plays fine from the first to about the thirteenth fret, then the rest are much higher due to the bend in the neck, making it nearly unplayable from 14-22. If you look down the neck, from the headstock down, you can see the neck raise up toward the body.

Ah, sound´s like what we refer to as a quot;Rising Tonguequot;....but a rising tongue shouldn´t start until the actual body/neck joint, which should be around the 17th or 18th fret.....

Are you sure that it´s not just mistaking excessive relief and a bad setup for an actual issue? I´ve had a few people come in thinking they need a refret that were pleased to see that they only needed a truss-tweak and bridge adjustment

Wow, you're the 1st person I've ever heard of wanting to swap out a Charvel for an OLP!

It sounds like a setup issue. You should take the guitar to a tech to have a look at.

Send that beast back where it came from.
