yup, lucky number 13 and it's oh so fitting for the guitar...2001 Fender Iron Maiden signature strat in like new condition! i've wanted one since '01 when they came out and the only year they made them but i never found a clean one for sale at a good price. before i found this one i almost bought one at a dealer for more money and it has some buckle rash...then i found this flawless one for $300 less than that other dealer wanted so i dove on it! the only thing i'm a bit upset about is the previous owner changed the pickguard from mirror to black mother of pearl but that's ok, i already ordered a new mirror guard to replace this on and bring it back to it's killer stock glory (yeah, odd for me...stock hehe). anyway, enough babble here she is....and man does it play nice!!-Mike
Sweet! Im glad you found this one! You're right though...it looks funny with that guardplate, I almost got that colour for my JV Strat (which is also black/maple), and it's cool, but Im glad I went with tortoise. That thing is gonna look sweet with the mirror guard on it!
That's great. Let me know how you like your first basswood guitar.
the maiden symbol on the headstock is cute.
ohh Bee is gonna love this!!
yeah, the black pearl guard is a bit odd but not bad...not my thing though...mirror is where it's at on this guitar!!
X...so far i love it man, the JBjr in baswood with a maple neck sounds real nice...still good and thick for palm mutes yet a real nice lead sound also. very happy so far! and the neck is killer on this thing with the big ass frets!!
pac..the maiden logo on the headstock is the best headstock logo ever IMO!!!

Told you basswood is killer for a rock guitar. Tiny frets are for sissies. It's probably a nice change from that crappy vintage wire on the MIM's.
Iron Maiden signature? Never heard of that one. Great looking though. Congrats!
lol it is a nice change but i sold almost all my MIM vintage fret guitars (one left that has a new neck on the way for it)...the smallest frets i have left are med jumbos on my strats and teles...even the black tele is getting a warmoth neck with jumbo frets now...big frets rock lol. oh and for your build if you go baswood with an all maple neck you'll be fine if you add the maple cap it may get a bit too bright...this seems to be a perfect ballance so far. i need to get my powerball in to give a better review b/c through the podxt and atomic combo i can make anything sound good with tweeking lol.

yeah it's a MIJ strat done for one year only 2001...every once in a while you see one pop up for sale. finding a mint one can be tricky since they are black and have baswood bodies. black paint tends to scuff and scratch and baswood tends to dent being so soft. i got real lucky on this one, it's pretty much factory fresh.

Maiden is overrated j/k
Cool looking guitar! It'll look so much better with the mirror scratch plate in there!
thanks man...after i talked to you about the maiden strat i was looking at with the slight buckle rash i stumbled onto this one and couldn't pass it up for $300 less than the other one! your right, this thing is dying for a mirror guard...soon enough that will get here b/c it's just wrong now lol.
-Mike
Great band, great looking guitar. I must say the pickguard fits right in... You really don't want to keep it stock?
How are the hotrails? Do they distort the sound much when played clean?
it's actually not stock now...it came from the factory with a mirror pickguard...the previous owner put this one on. i'm going to bring it back to stock with a new mirror guard. oh and i haven't tried it clean yet lol...heck it's a maiden sig strat the more gain the better lol.

Not crazy bout Maiden, great guitar though! Keep shreddin.
**** ME AND MY OLD BOOTS!!!!i'll read the thread later...
DUDE!!!!
****!
gt;.lt;
300???ARGH!!!!!!!
i ****ing hate you! i'm sorry.. gotta let it out of me! for frickin 300
ok, here we go
that pickguard looks a million times better than the mirror one
change the bridge for a hotrail and you got daves strat through and through. vintage neck profile i believe, that's also the reason for the 'tiny' frets cos the axe was supposed to be a tiny bit on the vintage side of things. dave had his hands in there hehe..
but as far as i remember it came with a flatmount floyd..
congrats dude. i really envy you.i kinda overlooked the twistedcaster, but for this i REALLY envy you.. the guitar i could build without a prob, but it's the headstock logo i'm after LOL
and you got a REALLY sweet deal.. 4 year old guitar and $800 cheaper than they retailed*edit* oopsy.. missread.. you got it for 300 cheaper... how much DID you pay for it??
no no no i didn't pay $300 lol i wish i got it for $300 LESS than another one i was looking at...i paid a bit more for it...but still much less than new...much less...you'd still be upset i think if i told you lol!! it also has jumbo frets on it, not vintage ones..that's what they came with from the factory big ol' jumbos not the vintage ones. also this guard is ok but it's ment to have mirror and looks much better with mirror to me so that has to go back on!! as for the pickups, i'm lovin' the JBjr, i have a hot rails in another strat and i'm not a big fan of the strat hot rails...the tele hot rails i love though...i may try my strat hot rails in it for the heck of it but i like the JBjr alot so far. the neck profile is great on it...real comfortable!!

have fun with it. cos she's a real player and screams just lovely
Bro, you're not gonna believe it, but I swear that's my old strat that I sold on Ebay a while back. I replaced the mirror pickguard with a pickguard that looks EXACTLY like that one. The mirror one scratched too easy, and was starting to crack on various screw holes, so I had one custom made.
If it really was mine, check on top side of the neck pocket (the one that faces you when you play). Mine had a VERY tiny crack that had started to run so I had the guitar tech reinforce it with some adhesive (on the inside of the neck pocket).
