How Do You Record Your Drums....
Live Computer Program
Or You Dont Use Drums At All?
Chris
I have a Boss DR-770 for notepad and demo work and I record acoustic drums for end product whenever possible.
I use drum mics, 1 between snare and hi hat. One 2-3 feet off the kick. 2 overheads set really hi and two distant room mics. I tend to let the room do most of the work, as I hate close mic drum sounds. They sound so tiny to me. I keep it pretty simple and just blend the mix til it sounds good.
Alesis SR-16 or I re-sequnence and manipulate Midi files in Fruity loops.
Like Robert I use a boss Drum machine but use the DR-670
I would use the drums on my Boss BR-864 Digital Studio if I didn't need a 200 IQ to figure them out.
im going to be recording live drums soon......
Cubase
Reason
Akai MPC 2000
Assorted Waldorf synths
E-Mu Proteus
We mostly use the hardware synths... in the studio we had a live neanderthal for a few tracks, though
Admittedly I´m not really a MIdi /synths person, so other than Reason and teh MPC I can´t really say whick of those do drums or are quot;tweked to hellquot; to emulate drums or not... I think the Proteus does other stuff....
Keyboard (whole backing) or quot;Groove Agentquot; but I rarely use GA.
Random samples triggered in Nuendo by Battery2.
Going to get DFHS soon, though.
