Snake Oil Strings

Some of you have read my ravings about Snake Oil Strings. They finally have a website up and running. I thought I would share the site with you all. These strings really are worth the $$, and they do last many months longer than standard strings. If you factor in how long they last, the price per pack is really nothing. I paid $8.50 a pack shipping...not sure if that is the going price now or not, but it should be close.

Check em out.

Thanks... I wanna give them a shot.

Damn he does a set of 10,13,17,28,38,48 when i mix sets of D'Addario's to get 10,13,17,28,38,49...i don't see a 49 listed on his site either hmmm perhaps a 48 or 50 could work. i just got real picky with the tension of the low E string for drop D use and the 49 seems perfect in E and drop D...thus my odd use of 2 sets of D'Addario's to get what i want. i think i may give them a try in the future.

I've heard a ton of great things about these strings. All I need to do is use up the 20 sets of D'addario's that i have laying around the house . I'm a long time D'addario 10-46 user and I'm totally happy w/them. These Snake Oil strings have sure got me curious.

Dean's a nice guy who's forgotten more about strings than most of us will ever know.

The custom cables he refers to are probably going to be made by Vans Evers. Dean Farley and Mike Vans Evers go back a ways.

Very cool, I keep meaning to try some of his strings, this is just the kick in the tail I need .

You won't find them in stores, you'll have to order them from the man. I just ordered two sets, one vintage and one rock, and it came out to $22.10 shipped.

I ordered one vintage amp; one rock....he sent me 2 vintage, which was no big deal...I just wanted to try both.

I haven't had them on the Tele for long, but honestly, I don't feel or hear a difference between them amp; the D'Addario EXL110s I usually use.

I think he'll make whatever gauge you want....send him your preference amp; he'll customize.....atleast that what I gathered in my e-mail to him.

The 10-48 vintage set totally rocked on my Tele. I love that guage size.

Quit playing those crappy amps you have and you'll notice a difference.

quot;Smoke On The Waterquot; never sounded so good thru a Matchless!!!!! Now that we've got your attention, what was the problem with your Marshall???

Reistor on the input jack came loose, that was causing the noise on both channels. It was also picking up some radio interference, which Scott just did an additional grounding trick he knows to eliminate that.

Problem solved, $35 for a bench hour and $40 to re-grill in the Cane Basketweave.

Can't beat that!!!!

Is the site always like molasses in january??

But Id like to try them soon

Any of you still using Snake Oil? What did you use prior to Snake Oil?

If you like his strings.....you have got to try Pyramid picks from deans friend in Europe. Wow! I think the site is custom-sounds.

I liked them on my Strat, but didn't care for them on the Tele.....

I use D'Addario EXL110s
