I play harder rock and blues.
Or just which do you like and why might be easier for me to decipher.
Thanks
Oh yeah, please include prices.
I don't know about prices, but the guitar players in my band both got Hughes and Kettner Vortex half stacks. They were inexpensive, sound pretty good and they're UNEARTHLY LIGHT!!! I swear on Hank Williams Senior's grave, the head and cab together are in the neighborhood of 35 pounds. If you're gigging a lot- it makes a difference.
Edit: I forgot to mention, they're not really a quot;bluesyquot; sort of amp, but it's got a decent clean sound and a decent distortion sound for a SS amp.
For the bucks, probably a Carvin Legacy. It's all tube and lots of power, for about $1300 US plus shipping.
Marshall Avt150 stack (the matching cab isnt so good) - very versatile, nice warm distortion sounds vintage and modern, lovely clean channel, superb reverb (10 types), decent effects and everything is footswitchable.
dont know the price because im in the uk, but its quite cheap.
Marshall 1959Slp Reissue/handwired reissue, absolutely lovely sounding amp, ive not played one but i was at a gig and some guy was playing classic rock and blues songs through it with his cover band and it really captured the essense of the songs and had such an amazing lead channel, really expressive and cut through the mix perfect.
their quite pricy, amazing though.
ive heard the Carvin legacy at a gig, never played one but it had a very smooth fluid sounding lead channel, the guy playing it was doing all this shred soloing and it sounded really good.
Ashdown Fallen Angel 60Dsp, very nice overdriven and distortion tones, built in effects (havent tried the effects so cant comment), has a really nice clean channel, very marshall sounding distortion, sounded like a Marshall TSL but sounded better at low volume than a Tsl.
I'd probably seek out a used Peavey JSX Satriani head and an Avatar 2-12 with Hellatone speakers. 3 tweakable channels is always a nice luxury.
Plus, it won NAMM's 'Amp of the Year'. I've seen them for around $900 used.
A used JCM800 or a JMP with MV from the 70's can both be found for great prices. At least over here.
Ive never heard something like my band mate's Laney GH50L with matching Laney 4x12 cab. £700 brand new for both parts. I will probably get one myself once i have my solid 2nd guitar. Maybe with a 2x12 cab tho
